Throughout each race weekend, DP World’s regional operations will deliver on-the-ground support, while a dedicated Control Tower Team based in the UAE will provide 24/7 oversight. Committed to sustainability, DP World aims to assist SailGP in achieving its ecological goals by prioritizing carbon-neutral logistics and low-carbon transport solutions. Additionally, the partnership will feature race-by-race carbon tracking to monitor environmental impact.
In addition to addressing the complexities of a global racing calendar, DP World will deliver customized logistics solutions for transporting the teams’ F50 catamarans. These high-tech vessels must be disassembled into specialized components for transportation, then reassembled at race locations. Essential supplies—ranging from team boats to broadcast equipment and racecourse infrastructure—will also be efficiently handled throughout the racing season.
DP World has previously demonstrated its logistical expertise in sports, having transported over 20 containers filled with more than 10,000 essential items to Rome for the Ryder Cup in 2023, as well as playing a pivotal role in the delivery of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 in the United States.
“We’re delighted to partner with SailGP to help them deliver smarter, more efficient, and more sustainable logistics solutions for their global calendar of races over the next three years,” said Daniel van Otterdijk, Chief Communications Officer of DP World. “This partnership presents another great opportunity to leverage our global network and world-class logistics capabilities in the sporting arena.”
Andrew Thompson, Managing Director of SailGP, expressed excitement over the collaboration, stating, “We’re thrilled to welcome DP World onboard as SailGP’s Global Smart Logistics Partner. Transporting thousands of pieces of race equipment around the world requires working with industry-leading partners like DP World. Together, we’re finding innovative ways to promote our global calendar and bring thrilling racing to fans worldwide.”
The partnership will kick off ahead of the 2025 Season opening event, the Emirates Dubai Sail Grand Prix, which will see a record 11 national teams competing in the waters of Mina Rashid on November 23-24, 2024. Notably, the event will be presented in partnership with P&O Marinas, a subsidiary of DP World.
